Artist's Notes
This is one of a series of works in folded sheet metal which was influenced by the unseen world of the microscopic; viruses and nanoparticles that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Their amazing forms are beautiful but potentially deadly.
The work was driven by a desire to make 3D forms from 2D materials by introducing twists and turns into the metal using industrial forming equipment. The non-traditional construction method of riveting was influenced by the work of Sir Anthony Caro and Richard Deacon.
